Excellent:

    “It's all good”

Everything was great! Our room was spacious (contrary to some of the other reviews), however, as we passed other rooms, they were small. We stayed in room 911, unfortunate number, but great room. It was at the end of a hallway, so that may be why it was so spacious. Everything was clean, well decorated. The rooftop area was nice, even in the dead of winter! The free breakfast and 24/7 were a lifesaver (and a money saver!). The breakfast was great, by continental breakfast standards. Free wi-fi, fitness center, and business center were great too. The doormen and front desk staff were wonderful. One of the door man even got to know us and would even call out "Hey Wisconsin! (our home state) everytime he saw us. Great stay!

    “Very helpful staff”

Great hotel. We arrived on Boxing Day evening, after a long journey with the flight restrictions coming into effect while we were checking in at Heathrow. We had a room on the penthouse floor, opposite the rooftop terrace with amazing views of the Empire State Building. Staff very helpful and welcoming, not just on arrival but throughout stay, including organizing dinner on NYE.

Macys at one end of road, Empire State at the other, with subway station right beside, 15 min walk to Times Square, 30 mins walk to Greenwich Village.

Very good continental breakfast and coffee available 24 hours a day.

    Easy to get taxis.

    “attack of the cockroaches”

Save your money. On the last day of my stay I discovered an extremely large cockraoch in my room (actually on my bed!). My brother and his fiancee proceeded to tell me they had also seen them on the roofdeck (we were staying on the 12th floor).

On complaining to the front desk they proceeded to ask me "what do you want us to do about it?" and the manager refused to even speak to me until I absolutely insisted he come out from hiding under the desk. He then proceeded to tell me that there was no formal comlaints procedure and he could not authorise any kind of refund or compensation. This was changeover day - the busiest day of the week!

A total shambles and would not want any one else to go through the same nasty experience. Also makes me wonder where else they are lurking in this hotel if they are on the 12th floor and the roof deck...don't even want to think about the kitchen...

    “more improvement”

We chose the hotel for the location, free internet (as we had to be in contact with my office) and complementary breakfast. From the description it looked like a stylish boutique hotel. What we got was a shabby old hotel, in need of renovation. The room size was fine and that was all.

p.s. nobody asked why I checked out early
