The rooms were clean with great interior design and furnishings. This is the hotel for a true New York experience. Great location with easy access to Soho shopping and Chelsea's Art District. Definitely check out the city's new High Line linear park a short walk from the hotel.
“Beyond expectations”

All perfectly clean and in excellent condition. Oh, we also had a wonderful balcony which provided us with the sounds of New York every night as we left the windows open. I'm sure those few chips inn the baths were there deliberately for ambience! We were so pleased that we cancelled the Roosevelt and stayed two extra nights at the hotel.
"Lived up to the hype!”

The artwork adorning the 10-story staircase is worth the price of admission alone.
If you're looking for Bellagio-style luxury, stay elsewhere. But if you want a day or two in a cool neighborhood in an apartment style flat, the Chelsea is for you!
We had a large group and opted to stay in their largest room--the 2-bedroom suite, which has two rooms EACH CONTAINING TWO DOUBLE BEDS! That's right--capacity of 8 people, for not much more money than it costs to get a mediocre room for two elsewhere in Manhattan.

“Not worth it”

The only positive thing to say is that the guy on the front desk was polite and there were no rats or corpses in the room If you are drunk, high on drugs or planning to commit suicide then this is the place for you. Otherwise, take a photo of it from the street, check out the bad art in the lobby but do not part with any cash to stay here.
“Extremely unprofessional”

We arrived at 12 and was told our room wasn't ready but to come back at 3 and we'd be good to go.Extremely unprofessional, but as we would find out, this seemed to be how things are at The Chelsea.
It looks like whoever is in charge of reservations hasn't a clue what they are doing and it is best to avoid this place. Go in and have a look at the lobby of this hotel but don't step a foot inside one of the rooms.
